Matt Frankenstein
1st Floor Community Facilitator

HEY! I'm Matt Frankenstein (Yes that actually is my real last name and yes I love it). I am thoroughly enjoying my Senior year at Santa Clara and cannot wait to
experience the entirety of my third year as a CF. I am from the Bay Area, about 20 minutes north of San Jose in Fremont, CA but I went to high school at Bellarmine College Prep in San Jose, CA down the street.
I love everything volleyball and I coach two nationally ranked volleyball teams. I should also mention that I am a F.R.I.E.N.D.S fanatic and can beat any known human in FRIENDS trivia. Other interest include watching my current 3 favorite shows (GLEE, TruBlood, and Vampire Diaries), swimming, playing soccer, dancing, and singing. In fact 90% of my day is devoted to making songs about everything in life. If you’re ever in Swig and trying to find me, all you need to do is open your ears and listen for a load person singing their lungs out and you'll be sure to find me. I up for almost any challenge and am always trying to find happiness in the darkest or ugliest moments in life life. I am a contagious burst of energy and love having a good time with friends and family.

You likely will, too. I'm a lover of Scrabble, swings, and singing. Always interested in a hike or a bike ride. Looking forward to being your neighbor, fall is going to be a blast!"

Galina Pappu
Resident Director

My name is Galina Pappu and I am the new Resident Director for Swig Hall. I am thrilled to join this growing and thriving community, and look forward to meeting each of you, our CyPhi residents. You can find me up on the 11th floor where I reside, enjoying the best view of campus, or out and about loving the sunshine. I was raised in the Bay Area and lived here until I headed to Syracuse University in New York to complete a BA in Communication and Rhetorical Studies. The east coast was a great experience, but the west coast is where I belong, so Imoved back to the Bay for graduate school. I have served as a Resident Minister in the Communitas RLC, and last year I had the wonderful opportunity to work as the Assistant Resident Director for the St. Clare Community. I recently received my masters in Higher Education Administration from Santa Clara University and continue to be passionate about residence life and most importantly building community and lifelong friendships. Santa Clara is a wonderful place to be, I love it here and I know you will too. Get EXCITED CyPhi community, it will be a great year!

Sean Gross
Resident Minister

"I'm Sean and I'm one of your Resident Ministers this year. I'm originally from southern California and, like many of you, this will be a year of firsts for me. This will be the first year that I will be living in Swig Hall, and this will be my first year as a Ph.D. student at Graduate Theological Union in Berkeley. I'm excited to get to know you and work with you to build a great residential community. Though it's a year of firsts for me, it's not the first time I've done resident ministry - I was a peer minister in a first-year hall at Saint Xavier University in Chicago. I got my B.A. there in Spanish and p
hilosophy, and then taught high school in Mississippi through the Teach For America program. I just finished my Master of Theological Studies at Boston College, so as you can see, I've lived in a number of places. Feel free to say hello - I look forward to getting to know you!"

Sherry Booth
Faculty Director

Dr. Sherry Booth is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of English and in serving her sixth year as co-Faculty Director of CyPhi.  She teaches courses in writing, women and gender studies, Cultures & Ideas, and is the director for first-year SLURP researchers.  She and John had the idea for SLURP five years ago, and the rest, as they say, is history.  For Sherry, working with students in CyPhi is a great joy and adds a personal dimension to the intellectual work we all share.  Sherry's research interests and publications are in ecofeminism and sustainability education.
Garrison Dyer
RLC Academic Advisor

"Garrison joined the SCU team in 2007 as part of the RLC Academic Advising Program.  He holds office hours in Swig several times a week, and is available to assist CyPhi residents with a variety of academic issues including course scheduling, selecting majors, long term planning, and much more.  Garrison received both his undergraduate and graduate degrees from the University of Oregon, and has worked at three other Universities prior to coming to SCU.  He also tries to keep candy on hand and available, and always enjoys when students stop by just to check in and say hello."

Connor Schwab
RLCA CyPhi Representative

Hi I'm Connor and I like to party! I was born and raised in Portland, Oregon and I'm an EMT on campus. I'm a sophomore and I'm a civil engineer major! I'm the RLCA representative for CyPhi and this is my second year in swig. I hope to get to know every single one of you guys!

Sam McCarthy
2nd floor Community Facilitator

Hey everyone! My name is Sam McCarthy and I hail from Danville, CA, about a 45 minute drive north of Santa Clara, and I am the 2nd floor CF!.  I am a physics major with a minor in music.  Music is my passion.  I love to sing, play piano, and play guitar, so if you ever want to jam I'd be glad to!  I'm a die hard Giants fan and I love all sports, especially baseball.  I'm basically just your average college kid.  Looking forward to meeting you all in September!

Irene Sheh
4th floor Community Facilitator

"Hey Cyphi! I’m Irene and my home is approximately 2 miles from Swig. I am a student in the business school and am addicted to emailing on my Blackberry. Most likely you’ll find me at the gym standing on a Bosu Ball or reading a magazine on the elliptical. I enjoy a healthy dose of reading in the sun or a leisurely bike ride around the neighborhood. I think I want to be a wedding planner after college since a large chunk of time is wasted looking at wedding dresses every day. Currently, I’m re-watching Sex and the City from start to end. I can’t wait to meet all my residents, to show you around, and to have a great year!"
Alex Hanchett
Assistant Resident Director

Roni Rod

Hey CYPHI,
I'm Roni Rodriguez and I'm the 8th floor CF. I'm a junior from Phoenix, Arizona and went to Xavier College Preparatory, an all girls Catholic high school. I am an English and Communications double major. My passions are film, creative writing, reading, and being active. You'll probably find me doing a Jillian Michaels workout video in my room or writing a short story on my cool new state of the art typewriter. If you see me in the elevator in Swig or around campus, definitely say hi. Have a great year my little Swiglets.

Peace, Love, 8th Flo,
Rondog

Hi y’all! My name’s Andrew and I live on the 4th floor. I grew up mostly in Santa Barbara, until I ventured to boarding school in Massachusetts and New Hampshire. I graduated from Santa Clara in 2008 with a B.A. in English, and went on to work as a tutor and travel Central America. Most recently, I served as an Americorps member with Bronco Urban Gardens, a non-profit based out of SCU; come with me to check out The Forge, our community garden just off campus! Amongst other things, I enjoy hiking, playing music, and exploring new cultures through food. I practice yoga and mediation, and hope that you can join us sometime for a “spiritual study-break.” I’m currently working on my Masters in Counseling. Drop by sometime to say “hello”!
