| "We are the temple of the living God..." (II Corinthians 6:16). .
Hold on, that doesn't look like a Catholic Church! Well actually it is as Catholic as Saint Peter's in Rome. Melkites are one of the over 20 individual churches that join together in communion with the Pope to constitute the Catholic Church. We celebrate the Byzantine Tradition of Antioch, with liturgy from the orthodox East. Our place of worship demonstrates the reality of the unity of all things in God. It does not reproduce the upper room of the Last Supper, nor to be simply a meeting hall for men whose life is tied to worldly things. The temple is the image of God's Kingdom in the Book of Revelation. The altar is the throne of Christ - both as the Word of God in the Gospels and as the Lamb of God in the eucharistic sacrifice. Around the table gather the angels and saints, the servants of the Word and the Lamb who glorify him. Both the faithful Christians on earth who are "...fellow citizens with the saints and members of the household of God..." (Ephesians 2:19) . Come Join us and enter into the eternal worship of God's Kingdom in the Church. |
