The Shenandoah County Public schools recognizes that each child is a unique and worthwhile individual, that each offers promise of significant contribution to our society, and that each is deserving of an educational experience appropriate to his/her needs. It is our responsibility as a public education system to encourage and assist each of our students in developing his/her unique abilities. Therefore, the Shenandoah County Public Schools is committed to identifying gifted students and providing them a K-12 program of appropriately differentiated educational opportunities. Further, it is our belief that each student's educational needs must be addressed as an integral part of the regular school curriculum. Shenandoah County Public Schools is therefore committed to providing a continuum of services to gifted students within the classroom and through a variety of enrichment and extension opportunities. Finally, we believe that each teacher who works with gifted students needs to be aware of their unique learning characteristics and styles and should be able to provide learning experiences appropriate to their needs. Therefore, the Shenandoah County Public Schools is committed to providing for faculty and staff an ongoing staff development program, along with resource assistance, to assure a quality program for identified gifted students in Shenandoah County. |
