“Just the knowledge that a good book is awaiting one at the end of a long day makes that day happier.”

~Kathleen Norris

I love to read!  It is a chance to see so many different writing styles and ways of expressing yourself.  When you read, you are reading what someone else has written!  Here are some of the books I have read recently that you may want to try:

The Lightning Thief by Rick Riordan:

The beginning of a series called the Olympians, this book weaves adventure with allusions to Greek mythology in a way that is humorous and entertaining. I couldn't wait to grab the second one!

AR reading level: 4.7 Point Value: 13.0

 The Wreckers by Iain Lawrence

This is the first of a trilogy that is set in England during the time when sea travel was the only way to travel great distances. When a ship crashes upon the shore of the Isle of Skye, a 14-year-old survivor must continue to fight for his life against the wreckers--a coastal community of murderous people who pillage shipwrecked vessels to feed and cloth themselves and decorate their homes.  If you like adventure and history - this is the book for you!

AR Reading Level:  4.2

Point Value: 6.0
