A Word from Our Pastor

He is Risen!  What a glorious truth!  As Christians, our hope rests in this reality.  Without a resurrected Savior, we cannot be sure of our salvation.  Nor can we be sure of our eternity.  Or, as the apostle Paul wrote, “And if Christ is not risen, your faith is futile; you are still in your sins!” (I Corinthians 15:17).

I want you to know that we do have hope because He, in fact, has risen!  And, that is why we celebrate this holiday known as Easter.  It’s always a joy to celebrate holidays with family and friends in a variety of ways.  We sometimes take family pictures, go on picnics, have Easter egg hunts for the children, etc. etc.  But, I trust that all of us are sensitive to the real meaning of this special day.  And, as adults that we are teaching our children what this day is really all about.  If I were to visit some of our local schools and ask children the reason for Easter, I’m certain I would get a wide variety of answers—most of them incorrect.  Let that not be said of the children at Scotts Creek!

My prayer is that all the saints at Scotts Creek will be so grounded in their faith that they can enjoy holidays and special occasions with a Biblical understanding and not be influenced by the world’s commercialization of such sacred events.  After all, if we trivialize an event like the Resurrection of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, have we not ultimately denied the very faith we profess? From this year forward, let’s be committed to enjoying the celebrations with a clear understanding of what we are celebrating and truly praise God for our resurrected Lord.  Without Him, we have no hope.  And, as we better understand and enjoy such vital doctrines of our faith, it will help us to further “grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.”

By His Grace,

Pastor Johnny
