Welcome to Scotts Creek Baptist Church

GOD is SO GOOD! . . .

God is so good...He’s so good to me!

He cares for me...He’s so good to me!

I love Him so...He’s so good to me!

I praise His name...He’s so good to me!

2011 was a year in which our Church experienced God’s goodness and greatness in so many ways. As we stand looking into the New Year 2012 with great excitement to see what God has in store for us, we reflect on some of His many acts of goodness to us during this past year:

~ We received 29 new members into our fellowship (along with an additional 7 children who are under watchcare until they make their own profession of faith). HE has blessed and added to our number!
~ We adopted a budget of $180,555.29. As of the third Sunday in December, our budget receipts exceeded the budget needs by $10,958.01. HE has provided during days of economic hardship!
~ We accepted a challenge by Pastor Johnny in March to make commitments to the “Chest of Joash” in the amount of approximately $100,000.00 in order to remove our old ceilings from the education building and replace with new ceilings and lighting. God supplied the needs for this project. Work was begun in May and completed in July. No money is owed on this project! HE has provided!
~ We also experienced God supplying the resources needed to take care of some projects which had been listed as “long term” by our Long-Range Planning Committee. In November, the installation of 97 new windows in the education building was completed. In December, the project to put a new roof on our entire church building was completed. No money is owed on either of these projects! HE has provided!
~ We were able to enjoy the adult choir’s cantata on December 18 with the aid of a new sound system which is 95% complete. Funds are available to complete payment in full on this project! HE has provided!
~ We have participated in missions through: the Annie Armstrong Offering for North American Missions; the State Missions Offering, Offering for Baptist Children’s Homes and the Lottie Moon Offering for International Missions. HE provided worthy offerings for each of these as we reach to the ends of the earth!
~ We have been led by our youth and children to participate in “Soup-er Bowl of Caring” for World Hunger Relief, “30 Pieces of Silver” for World Hunger Relief, grocery bag collection for United Christian Ministries and food for Thanksgiving boxes for families in Jackson County. In addition, the youth volunteered at Manna Food Bank in Ministries and food for Thanksgiving boxes for families in Jackson County. In addition, the youth volunteered at Manna Food bank in Asheville to sort and store food. HE has given us youth with a heart for others!
~ We have had an active group of Baptist Men building ramps and helping with needs in our community. HE has given us eyes to see the needs of those around us!
~ We have had Women’s Prayer Breakfasts, a prayer walk for the local schools, a World Crafts party, a Women of Faith conference trip. HE has given us Christian sisters and a love for one another!
~ We have celebrated our children with Spring and Fall Festivals, graduate recognition, Vacation Bible School and by teaching them on-going weekly through Sunday School, music and missions. HE has given us the desire to let the “little ones” come to HIM!
~ We have begun a C.A.R.E. (Christians Actively Reaching Everyone) Ministry to reach out to church members and our community. HE has given us a heart for ministry in the place where we live.
~ We have celebrated a wedding; we have celebrated anniversaries, birthdays and many other special occasions together. HE has given us opportunities to laugh and rejoice together!
~ We have come together for times of remembering those who have passed from this life and ministering to those experiencing grief. HE has given us the compassion to weep with those who weep!
~ We have rejoiced in the long lives of members (Faye Whitaker at 98 years and Bill Collins at 97 years!) and at the news of expected births in 2012. HE has reminded us that all our days are in HIS hands!
~ We have been challenged and called through the preaching and teaching of one who is truly God-called to “grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.” HE has given HIS leader for HIS people in HIS church.
