Teton National Park
We took a few days to get away from the daily grind and take a few days for ourselves.  A 'honeymoon' of sorts I suppose you could say.

Nothing like an off day to get yourself up at 6:30 in the AM and hike about 15 miles, but that's what we did to get away and relax.  We started at the beautiful Jenny Lake in side Grand Teton National Park and took the boat across to the trailhead, bypassing the 2 mile walk around the lake.

A fantastic morning for a hike, it was slightly cloud covered and cool enough for a light jacket or long-sleeve shirt.  That was a nice break from the 95+ degree temps we've consistently had in these parts.  We took the leisurely stroll up past Hidden Falls and up to Inspiration Point for a view of Jenny Lake.

From there we headed up Cascade Canyon.  Shortly after beginning we were greeted with a couple of big (not according to Alaska standards, but big none the less) bull moose grazing in the meadow and river.  We progressed up the canyon past many a cascading waterfall coming down from the mountaintops.

The culmination, and mid-way point, of the hike was Lake Solitude.  It was about 7.5 miles to get there, with a continuous climb for nearly the last 3 miles, but well worth every step.  We enjoyed our packed lunches while overlooking the lake for a respite to refresh, then headed back down.  All-in-all a fun day of hiking.  Tiring of course, but always enough to make you thankful to have the opportunity to be in the awe-inspiring lanscape of the Tetons.

We spent the night in Jackson Hole at a kitchy little place called the Wagon Wheel Motel.  They were nice rooms actually, and a few short blocks from the town square.  Ate some tasty BBQ at Bubba's, caught a little of the shootout in the sqaure evening show, and walked around the shops and galleries.  No big purchases, except an ornament to commemorate the trip and start our collection, and a hat for my cowgirl at heart.  Grabbed breffast at The Bunnery in town on Sunday morning before heading out of town and over to Dubois, WY for a few days at Ring Lake Ranch.  Check out the other page for more on that.
