Sessions and Festivals

Loanhead Music Festival is a well-established event in the local calendar, and attracts musicians from all over. It generally features a concert, first class pub sessions, workshops, a craft fair, a song-writing competion and the infamous Recycled Musical Instrument Competition.

Shops and Sellers

http://www.scayles.co.uk/  My favourite music shop in Edinburgh. More like family friends than a business. I could live in this shop!! I got my first resonator from the original shop, when it was "Scales", and it stocked fishing tackle as well!

http://myworld.ebay.co.uk/simpsonsguitars/  Another favourite shop. Used to be in Stafford Street in Edinburgh, but now trades exclusively on-line.  Good people, and they always have a stand at the Loanhead Music Festival craft fair.

People

Organisations

Loanhead Guitar Club is a workshop-based weekly class for guitar afficionados, and beer drinkers.

The Scots Music Group (SMG) promotes traditional song, music and dance in the Edinburgh area, particularly through the instrument classes they run for adults.

Resources

Chordhouse is one of the best chord sites sites I've seen, particularly for non-standard tunings that us slide players like to use. Loads of other stuff too!
