Score for the Poor is a soccer camp for children that raises money for the Little Sisters of the Poor in Richmond. While the camp teaches basic soccer skills, the main goal of the camp is that the campers have fun and make new friends. The camp was started by nine year old Emily Lodge in 2004. The first year the camp only consisted of her 20 cousins and raised $200. This past year was the 8th annual Score for the Poor that was attended by over 40 people and raised close to $2000. The mission of the camp is to show children that it does not matter how old you are, everyone can make a difference.

Although the camp is a “soccer” camp, anyone that loves to have a good time and be active is welcome.  The camp is 2 hours long and is normally held during a week in August. The day usually begins with some fun team building activities, and always ends with a fun game of kickball and refreshing popsicles. The camp is not concerned with building star athletes, but rather in building friendships and teaching kids that everyone can make a difference.
