Introduction

Did you ever wonder how scientists came to know things such as the temperature of the sun, the structure of an atom, or how fast the speed of light is? Before scientists could ever think of knowing such things they had to come up with a systematic way to investigate nature. That "way" became known as the scientific method, and it is universally used by all scientists around the globe. Now you will learn the secrets of the scientific method and take the first steps towards becoming a full fledged scientist. Your task is to learn to recognize "good" science from "bad" science by applying what you know of the scientific method. Most scientists would agree: If a theory doesn't apply the scientific method, then it is not a scientific theory. This webquest will help you learn the steps that each scientist uses everyday to investigate natural phenomena.
