A weekend in Brandenburg

Last weekend I went to visit Anne in Reuden-Calau  who – together with friends – has bought an old country guesthouse there.  It was great that at the same time as I was there Berit from Rostock and Darrell from North Carolina (both friends from my time in Sweden) were also visiting Anne.

On Friday evening, when I arrived we had a nice barbecue on the hayfield behind the house and realized that we haven’t met since 2006.Anne gave me a tout through the buildings and I had to see that they have a lot to do before the first guests can be hosted. Basically the area hasn’t been used as a guesthouse for more than 30 years so everything has to be re-built before using the houses for agrotourism and other activities. However, Anne is optimistic to be able to offer “letterboxing” in the surrounding area pretty soon.

The next day Berit and I helped Anne to work on the façade of the main building that has to be grouted. Later that day we went for a bike ride in the surrounding area. It was really nice and I got kind of a “Sweden-feeling” again. We ended up, climbing on a look-out nearby  the village of Cabel where we had a look over the Lausitz.

On Sunday I had to leave Reuden again and gave Darrell a lift to Würzburg, where he is visiting another buddy from Sweden before he will come to my place later this week.
