Caught by the CROC

Student Incentive System

Caught by the CROC is a positive incentive system for Sycamore Creek music class students. The system works this way:

1.     Each day, each class of students starts with a clear “grid” on the white board

                                        A                             B                            C

1

A.H.

A.V.

2

Eric

Will

3

H.T.

Cindy

2.     When the teacher spots a student making good choices, showing respect, participating with enthusiasm, etc., the teacher puts the students name or initials up in one of the nine rectangles.

3.     Names can be added any time during the class. Up to 9 names can be placed in the grid.

4.     At the end of the period the teacher has a student pull a green card out of the "crocodile hunter" hat on the piano. The number corresponds to one of the grid locations on the board (example - B2 is Will).

5.     Will gets a prize, everybody cheers because we’re a team and when anyone wins, we all win.

6.     K doesn’t play this game – we do give one student and SuperSinger of the Day award in Kindergarten.

7.     Grades 1-5 participate in Caught By The CROC.

8.     Grades 3-5 receive a special treat.  Grades 1, 2 receive a fun sticker.

9.     One student (or more) from each class (1-5th grade) is the winner each day they have music class.
