Makeup conferences are Dec. 9 (A-K) from 4-7 p.m. in the CHS gymnasium. I look forward to meeting many of you then and there.

The Independent Reading grade has been moved to the second semester and is now "out of 600."

As a result, some students' grades dropped temporarily until they complete another book talk (it was "out of 300 for midterm progress reports). The category is still worth 20 percent of the overall grade, and the deadline for book talks for first semester is Friday, Jan. 13. 

The class has finished reading The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn by Mark Twain. The final paper is due Dec. 10, and we will study transcendentalism next week.
