Since 1999, the Northern Cultures and Societies International Fieldschool of Oulu University has been studying the archaeology of the Kierikki area in the town of Yli-Ii, Northern Finland. This ongoing project now forms one half of the SCENOP structure. The overall goal of the project is to reconstruct the society and economy of a small region of Finland between 6000 and 4000 years ago, in order to better understand human adaptive responses to the significant environmental changes that took place during that period. |
