The purpose of this group is to educate the land owners of the Scenery Hill area regarding horizontal gas drilling and to increase negotiating power for the best possible horizontal gas leases.

 

This group is open to any land owner in the Scenery Hill area or any other person in the Scenery Hill area who may be affected by horizontal gas drilling.  This group is not open to the general public,  gas company employees or members of the media.  In the future we will invite representatives of the gas company but the group itself has been formed for the sole benefit of the land owners of the Scenery Hill area.

 

The geographic area of this group currently covers North Bethlehem,  West Bethlehem and Somerset townships.  This area may grow in coverage but we are most interested in a contiguous area of land to increase our negotiating power with the gas companies.

 

Membership in this group is by free will and people can choose to join or leave the group at will.  No one in this group will be making decisions for the individual land owners and you will always have the option to not sign a lease.   That being said,  it has already been expressed by the gas companies that they will NOT make the same offer to individuals as they do to the group.  There have been several other land owner groups in the country that have greatly benefited from forming a group as opposed to trying to negotiate individually with the gas companies.   These benefits include both better financial rewards as well as lease that will better protect your land.
