Coffee Pot

A warm welcome awaits you at…

‘Coffee Pot’

In 1990, following some thoughts on providing a focal point for people to meet in Scotby village, the Thursday Coffee Pot was established in the Parish Centre. From 10 am to noon, each Thursday, there is a welcome to anyone who wishes to call in for

coffee, tea, a chat or just simply to meet friends.

There is no charge for the coffee but donations received are sent to various charities and over the years we have supported various local and national causes such as Sightsavers International; Dystonia Society;Christian Aid and currently  the Chemotherapy unit at the Cumberland Infirmary.

A photocopying and laminating service is also available at the Parish Centre at a nominal charge.

Whether you have only a couple of minutes or a couple of hours or need a document photocopying please do call at the Parish Centre on Scotby Green any Thursday morning and enjoy hospitality and fellowship with us.

What is the purpose of the Mid-week Fellowship Groups?

1. Nurture: We come together to share our understanding of the Bible and to help each other apply it to our lives.

2. Prayer: We pray regularly for the needs of individuals and for our churches; and use what we learn together to help us in our journey of faith.

3. Friendship: We value the support of other Christians and the Mid-week Groups provide a warm and informal environment for new friendships.

4. Service: We try to encourage each other to share our faith with others at work, home, leisure, and in our neighbourhood. We support all who are engaged in Christian work in the parish.

the pews have been transformed into cafe tables and

the wine has miraculously turned into coffee.'

Scotby School Prayer Group

Scotby School Prayer Group is a group of Christians who meet together to pray specifically for the local schools. We also spend time praying for all childrens activities within the life of the church, the village and the surrounding area. We try to coincide our prayer time with Governors' meetings or other special events at the school. Sue goes into school on a regular basis to talk to the teachers and the head to ask if there are any particular areas they would like us to pray for. We usually meet every 8 weeks on a Monday evening at 8pm at the home of Sue Van Der Byl.

The prayer group celebrated it's 10th anniversary last year by inviting staff for tea and cakes with the opportunity to meet everybody and ask questions. Many staff members came and it was great to put faces to the names of those we pray for. There are some Christian members of staff at the school who really appreciate the support they receive from the prayer group.

If you would like to get involved then please contact Sue on 513441 or Ailsa on 527147 for more information.
