TheWestco
is an annual west coast co-op gathering. It is an opportunity to strengthen the
cooperative community through skill share, communication and fun, and we, The
Students Cooperative Association (SCA) of Eugene are hosting. We have
three houses: the Lorax, the Campbell Club and the Janet Smith. The
Lorax’s address is 1648 Alder Street Eugene, Oregon 97401. Use this for
directions.
How Much is Westco? FREE! We’ll provide vegan and some vegetarian options free to all Westco participants. We’ll even let you stay on our couches...free. Sorry, no transportation scholarships available. What do I bring to Westco? Sleeping bag, sleeping pad (some couches available), music, games, art, workshops, pictures of your house. Can I Facilitate a Workshop at Westco? A note about unscheduled workshop space: If there is something missing on this schedule, or a talent of yours that we overlooked please forgive us and present anyway! The Tower room (3rd floor) of the Lorax will be our “Room of Requirement” during Westco. There will be message boards in each house and morning announcements to promote your activity. Who do I Contact With More Questions or RSVPs? WestcoSCA at googlegroups dot com or Jasmine @ 503.999.6440 HERE ARE SOME FAQ ABOUT WESTCO! • The check in and info table will be at the Lorax, 1648 Alder. • Even in April, Eugene can be rainy. Bring rain gear and warm clothes. • The nearest beer shop is Hilyard Street Market (“Hillies”). Walk down the alley and take a left. The best real store is Sundance Market, 8 blocks south on 24th and Hilyard. • Bring your instruments, art supplies, extra clothes for screen printing and circus stuff is always fun. • Sometimes, we barely have enough dishes and flatware for us; it would be helpful if you brought your own, but we have hands. • Yes, you can draw on the walls...sometimes. Be respectful though; ask house members, collaborate on designs. Be sure to check out the mural workshop. • All visitors will be staying in the Campbell Club or Janet Smith attic. If you can’t handle cats, opt for the Janet Smith. • The Lorax calls their eating area “The Vortex.” Once you sit down, you’ll know why. • Which house is which? The Lorax has a tower; the Campbell Club has a big porch; the Janet Smith is two blocks away (but we still love them!). • Upload your photos from this wonderful weekend to the Westco flickr account! www.flickr.com/photos/westco2009 username: westco2009 password: cooplove There will be an art trade/sell table set up at the Lorax, feel free to participate! We'd love to see your handmade goods! |
