Measurement------

·        Compare attributes of two objects using appropriate vocabulary (color, weight, height, width, length, texture).

·        Recognize concepts of calendar time using appropriate vocabulary (days of the week, months of the year, seasons)

 

Geometry------

  • Model and use directional and positional vocabulary
  • Complete simple spatial visualization tasks and puzzles

 

 

 

Data Analysis------

  • Collect and organize data as a group activity.
  • Display and describe data with concrete and pictorial graphs as a group activity

 

Algebra------

  • Sort and classify objects by one attribute

We are learning to sort by color, by size , by shape, and by kind/type

 

  • Creating and extending an ABB pattern with actions, words and objects

 

Writing

Oral Language Development and communication------

  • Repeats rhymes, poems, and songs
  • Identifies the meaning of basic concepts
  • Maintains conversation and discussions by paying attention
  • Uses words that name and words that tell action in a variety of simple texts (oral retelling)

 

Writing Content------

  • Uses drawings or symbols to convey idea or information 
  • Uses captioned pictures to express ideas
  • Copies print from the environment
  • Writes first names of some friends or classmates (accept approximations)

 

Writing Conventions------

  • Students should be writing most letters of the alphabet at this time.

 

Reading

Word Study 

  • Produces words that rhyme
  • Recognizes, blends, and segments syllables in spoken words
  • Recognizes and  names upper and lower case letters of the alphabet
  • Knows letter sounds and can tell words associated with those sounds  

 

Print Concepts 

  • Can demonstrate directionality (where to go next at the end of the line)
  • Demonstrates one-to-one matching while the teacher reads
  • Demonstrates understanding of a sentence
  • Recognizes first/last letter of a word
  • Recognizes first/last word on a page
  • Recognizes period and a question mark

  • Predicts possible events before reading
  • Predicts possible events during reading
  • Understands and follows oral/graphic directions. 3 or more step directions
  • Retells a story in own words giving beginning, middle and end
