12:20pm Dalai Lama Center for Peace and Education Presentation Title: "Compassionate Children, Caring Community" In this presentation, Chris Kelly, Senior Programs Consultant to the Dalai Lama Center for Peace and Education and former Superintendent of Schools for the Vancouver Board of Education, will describe how Appreciative Inquiry is currently being applied in the Compassionate Children, Caring Community initiative in the Frog Hollow community of East Vancouver. Originally designed for use in the corporate world, Appreciative Inquiry is a dialogic change methodology that engages participants in exploring an affirmative question central to the prospect of positive change. Those participants move through four successive stages in the process: Discovery -> Dream -> Design -> Destiny, and ultimately generate a common vision and plan for what it is they want more of. In telling the stories of how he has seen this process take effect in both organizational and community contexts, he will encourage and welcome those attending the session to raise questions and contribute their own perspectives and experiences regarding effective processes of development and change.
