Frequently Asked Questions
Q: What are the age requirements to participate in the program?
A: You must be at least 15 years old by June 1, 2011 and not older than 19 on August 2, 2011. You must also be currently enrolled in high school or 2010-2011 high school graduate.
Q: What are the dates and how long does the program run?
A: The program will run for 5-6 weeks. It will start on or around Jun 27th, but the final dates are being determine and will be announced shortly. In additio to the work weeks, there will be a short recreational overnight camping trip at the end.
Q: How long is the work day and what is the compensation?
A: You will work 7 hour days Monday-Friday and receive about $7.25/hour. This includes weekly educational activities/field trips as well as the camping trip during the final week of the program. Note: the wage amount is not finalized.
Q: What exactly will I be doing as a Crew Member?
A: You will spend 4.5 days a week engaged in hands-on conservation work outdoors. Friday afternoons you will be on environmental education field trips with your crew. During the final week you will go on an overnight recreational camping trip.
Q: Where do we meet each day and what are the hours?
A: You will be responsible for meeting your Crew Leader and SCA van each morning at 7:30 AM at our office. You will be dropped off at the same location at the end of the workday (approximately 4:00 PM). You will be assigned to a crew and pick up location once you are accepted into the program.
