¿Quién soy yo?

About Me (Sobre yo)

I, along with my grandparents' guidance ( may they both rest in peace), was able to obtain my Bachelor of Arts in Spanish as well as a Masters of Education with a concentration in Bilingual Education. My studies have taken me abroad to the beautiful country of Spain in addition to  several pleasure trips to Cabo San Lucas, La Paz, and Cozumel, all located in Mexico. Furthermore, I was an instructor for the duration of three summers for the English First (EF) Program, whose headquarters are situated in Boston, Massachusetts. Back in 1991, I had the opportunity to serve on the Diocesan Textbook Committee, which included analyzing and critiquing free materials from various textbook companies. The three best texts were later put on a list from which all schools of the Buffalo Diocese could make their selection for the foreign language classroom.

I take immense pride having the opportunity to teach my students the necessary fundamentals of this beautiful and widely used language. Within the past ten to fifteen years the demographics of the United States have swayed so much that Spanish is required in almost all schools of the fifty states. Just pick up the phone and try to order a product from a company or perhpas to inquire about a bill, and you will hear the options are to either speak to someone in English or Spanish. My best hopes are for the learners in my class to go above and beyond in the future by becoming involved with foreign student exchanges in high school or taking an extra course of Spanish to hone their skills with the communication with others who are Spanish-speaking. The ability to be proficient in another language has become more of a requisite than ever as our world is ever evolving and developing into the ultimate melting pot. The tolerance of other cultures and their beliefs is at the forefront due to demographics, immigration, and the trials and tribulations of other nations.  I feel that it is my duty to prepare these students with the language skills required to assimilate to the many cultures of this proud country. The employability factor has peaked to a new level as it is now global and requires a vast knowledge of other languages as well as proper cultural business etiquette in order to survive the  everyday language struggles.

My grandparents  and their gentle words will always remain in my heart!  Gracias a mis abuelos por todo lo que  me han dado por sus palabras y espíritu.  Que Dios les bendiga siempre con su amor y palabras de compasión.

God is a primary focal point of my thoughts as I would not be here if it were not for His omnipotent power as well as His utmost kindness and understanding.  Jesus, His Son, died for us on the cross and redeemed us of our sins.  Holy Mary, Mother of God, has always been there for her Son as well as for us. The Holy Spirit has filled our hearts with goodness and compassion for others as well as a profound praise for God, our Father. All of the Saints have in one way or another watched over us whether during our travels, being bedridden at the hospital due to illness, or keeping us healthy spiritually as well as in a physical nature. Amen for our salvation and for the conversion of this world in God's name.
