Digital / Forensic Photography

Digital photo technology is advancing almost faster than agencies can buy equipment. Digital not only records images differently than film, but presents an entire new area of forensic evidence to be learned, used, and questioned in court. 


This course will cover topics such as:
  • Pixels
  • How digital cameras record light differently than film
  • Menu functions of the digital SLR
  • JPEG,TIFF,& RAW files
  • When to use each
  • Digital software
  • Digital policy
  • Testifying on digital photography

This course will include hands-on practice with Adobe Photoshop and forensic applications including:
  • The difference between enhancement and alteration
  • How to read a digital file
  • How to document digital changes
  • Testifying on digital enhancement
  • Using digital filters to visualize latent fingerprints


This is primarily a computer course for individuals who are already competent in basic photography skills and SLR cameras.
