Sharon Ben-Shem was born in Israel in 1975. She got her Bachelor in Music degree from Oklahoma City University (2000) and later moved to the Chicago subburb of Dekalb to study Jazz at Northern Illinois University. She there performed as a featured vocalist with the Northern Illinois University Jazz Ensemble, directed by Ronald Carter. In late 2003 Sharon received her Master in Music degree and recorded her first all-originals Jazz CD "The Song In Me". Sharon's music has local influences mixed with Jazz, blues, soul and folk. Her voice is often compared with that of the young Ella Fitzgerald - an important influencing image on Sharon's musical style.
