A new market with a great atmosphere raises ongoing funds for Santa Barbara Charter School.

Santa Barbara, CA, August 14, 2009:  The Santa Barbara Charter School will celebrate the grand opening of a new Flea Market and Craft Faire with a special celebration on August 22nd when SBCS school parking lot will be transformed into a wonderful place to shop with a great family atmosphere.  There is no charge for looking.  Free parking and free admission, every time.

The Market provides a new place to sell for our local community.  It will be home for many crafters, musicians, collectors, nonprofit organizations, and the general public to come out and sell new and used items. Visitors can expect to hear a variety of music by local groups from across Santa Barbara County.  You will find a community of vendors who together create a place to shop for gifts or treasures alike, with a large variety of items that is sure to grow as time passes.  As visitors explore the markets exhibits, they will have an opportunity to find many unique items.  We encourage people to visit and support their local community, and to find a new treasure.

The market is founded by Santa Barbara Charter School parents and overseen by the SBCS Parent Alliance.  The monthly market is run by parents and students who continue to strive to sustain the resources needed for our school.  Parents and students are actively engaged in planning and implementing to protect and enhance their school funding.

We are proud to have many local musicians who are donating their time by providing entertainment for this grand event.  We thank them greatly for their service in  helping to raising awareness of an event that  will soon be regarded as the most unique and successful flea market within Santa Barbara County.    The Grand Opening will include music by Karen Thurber, Lula, Hot Lava, and Life at Big Bri's.   It is certain to be an outstanding afternoon.   We would also like to send our appreciation to the following sponsors:  Mikes Drum Shop, Jensen’s Guitar and Music, EventRents, and Laura’s Garage who are providing services to our event.

On Saturday, September 19th we will hold our second market, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. and will continue to hold markets every third Saturday of each month.  The public will have a special opportunity to explore new and different vendors throughout the year.
