Sara Blokland (1969  The Netherlands) is a visual artist, and independant researcher of photography. She  lives and works in Amsterdam. She studied at the Rietveld academy  (BA in photography)  and did her MFA (photography and video) at Sandberg Institute in the Netherlands .

As a visual artist she is predomintly working with video and photography. Her work reflects on the complicated role of photography in relation to personal histories. Since 2007 she is also a Master candidate Photographic Studies (theory)  at the  Leiden University . Were she currently  is writing her Master thesis on  photographic representation of the body in relation to (post) colonial histories and contemporary art."
