Donation standards for those individuals or organizations which may require a separate account, and some authority on expenditures from said account, may only advise on the usage of the funds if the advise will further the goals or projects of SDA. Types of advice permitted are financial management to ensure maximum efficiency, investment options that help SDA reach a more self sustaining flow of income, suggestions on professional services that may help SDA attain research goals and the completion of projects, and tax advice.
Any donation contingent which restricts the leadership and decision making process, impedes or changes membership criteria set up by the board members, transfers funding away from SDA goals or projects, or implies overtly or indirectly the buying and selling of leadership positions are strictly prohibited.
SDA will follow a “No Strings Policy” on donated material goods. Material goods include, but are not limited to food, electronics, cars and other vehicles, buildings, properties without back tax liabilities, arts and crafts, and animals. “No Strings” means that the donor of such items gives up the rights and claims over those items once donated to SDA by direct possession or legal documentations. “No Strings” also means that the donor will not donate these items based on a contingent of membership, positions within the governing body, or contracted labor. This policy also applies to donations of intellectual property such as patents, trademarks, and copyrights; works of music or art; licenses; royalties; or collectibles of any type. All donations of collectibles, vehicles of all type, and arts and crafts must be in serviceable condition without the need for immediate repair. No properties, closely held securities, patents, trademarks or copyrights that have legal entanglements or past taxes due will be accepted. Conservation easements will only be accepted on a case by case basis.
