My current research work is based on, using Tree-ring analysis to understand past climatic changes from the diversified geographical regions of India (Western and Northeast Himalaya, Central India and Kerala). My research contributes to the understanding of past climate change from seasonal to centennial time scales, spatial and temporal dynamics of climate change, past glacier retreat and advance, signature of past seismic events and fire history using tree-ring data. Moreover, I am also analysing long term relationships between tree-ring data with other global climate data and climate indices. In addition, to tree-ring analysis I am also engaged in Palaeoclimatic and Palaeovegetation reconstruction based on Pollen analysis from the Himalayan region. The research is interdisciplinary in nature showing inter-linkages among various aspect of plant sciences (Ecology, Anatomy, Plant Physiology), Climatology, Statistics and Isotope chemistry) |
