Hello friends. You're probably here only if you know me otherwise - so no introductions necessary, I hope. Some of you know that I write poetry, others have just found that out, and to yet others it may come as a surprise. In any case, here you'll find mainly some of my past poems. I may also post new material, as it becomes available, but do not hold your breath and wait for it (please).
What's New?
[ 1st May 2006 ] - Added essay "Two Thamizh Haiku"
Poems
They say Ulysses, wearied of wonders,
wept with love on seeing Ithaca,
humble and green. Art is that Ithaca,
a green eternity - not wonders.
-- Jorge Luis Borges, "The Art Of Poetry"
"I sing. You listen. The song is yours."
-- Narayanan Raghunathan
Where does good poetry come from?
If I knew, I'd visit and overstay my welcome! I'd even invite you all to come with me ;-)
Where has my poetry come from?
From serious, solitary moments, and a love for words. They are like songs I dreamed of hearing on a (dream) radio,
and tried to write down the words to, upon waking... if that makes any
sense. But only the words could be transcribed, mind you, their true
melodies and the moments that anchor them in time are mostly lost.
[Poets are required to be obscure like this while talking about their
own poetry; that is their mark of honour.]
So here they are, some of my favourites from the past few years (or the ones that I am actually willing to own-up to). These are here mainly for the relative convenience and safe storage of the web. Enjoy!
