The Santa Rosa Woman's Club was initially formed in 1961 to welcome newcomers to Santa Rosa Shores...a residential community in Gulf Breeze, Florida. In 1965, the club became federated with the Florida Federation of Women's clubs and its purpose changed from social to philanthropic. We are non-profit and, over the years, we have successfully funded the creation and placement of the two beautiful wood Gulf Breeze signs, and have established school scholarship grants. Through volunteerism and funding, we have supported (in part!) the Naval Aviation Museum, Covenant Hospice, Abused Women and Children, American Cancer Society Scholarship Program, Good Samaritan Clinic and Interfaith Ministry Thrift Shop and Food Pantry, Special Needs Children, Camp Happy Sands, Bay Breeze Nursing Home, Sacred Heart Children's Hospital, Gulf Breeze Hospital, Ronald MacDonald House, Wildlife Sanctuary, Humane Society, Elephant Sanctuary, Heifer International, Jellyfish Cafe, Science Olympiad, Gulf Breeze and Midway Fire Departments, and continue to make complimentary hats for the kids at the annual Gulf Breeze Arts Festival, and do complimentary face-painting for the kids at the Special Olympics.
As we and the FFWC are under the umbrella of the General Federation of Women's Clubs, our official name has changed to the GFWC Santa Rosa Woman's Club. Our members come from all walks of life and are often involved in craft, bridge, golf, bowling, gardening, etc. Though volunteerism is our focus, we are STILL socially committed to each other, and we welcome all women to come and talk with us...to see first-hand what many hands and big hearts can do! Once you do, we know you will want to add your hands and heart to this rewarding effort.
