Weekly rehearsals in Santa Cruz culminate in three concerts each year, including at least one collaboration with the San Jose Youth Chamber Orchestra. Santa Cruz Chamber Strings is one of the family of youth orchestras which are a project of the San Jose Chamber Orchestra and its musical director and conductor, Barbara Day Turner, as well as San Jose Chamber Youth Orchestras director and conductor, Susan Stein. The mission of Santa Cruz Chamber Strings and San Jose Youth Chamber Orchestras is to equip young music students with the skills needed for excellent performance, and to promote the joy of learning and performing chamber music with a dedicated group of musicians.
