Pack Information

Welcome to Pack 458 and the wonderful world of Cub Scouting!  Pack 458 provides the scouting experience for all boys in the first through fifth grades.  Since most packs are organized around a school or church the majority of our boys attend Parkside Elementary, Horrall Elementary or Saint Timothy Catholic Schools.  Geographically  this pack serves all boys who live on the east side of Highway 101 between Hillsdale Boulevard and Third Avenue and to the Foster City border line.   Though our pack is open to any boy who wishes to join us regardless of location or neighborhood.

Our pack is comprised of dens, which are organized by grades.  Each den is led by a trained den leader who is a parent volunteer, using the "two-deep" youth protection program like is used in other programs such as Little League, AYSO, Pop-Warner, etc.

Our pack meets twice a month, on the second and fourth Wednesday in the LGI room at Parkside Elementary School located at 1685 Eisenhower Street.  Meetings start promptly at 6:30pm and end at 8:00pm.

The first meeting of the month is our DEN meeting,
where after the general business is concluded the boys break out into their respective dens and do activities related to their achievements for rank advancement.  The second meeting of the month is our PACK meeting  where all boys and his families are invited (and strongly encouraged) to attend.   In addition, throughout the year there are also opportunities for den and pack events such as picnics, camping trips, day hikes and other field trips of interest.  With 2010 being the 100 Year Anniversary of Scouting we attended many local, statewide and national events.  Now 2011 is our 100 Year Anniversary of Cub Scouting so again we plan to have an active role in that celebrations

Cub Scouting is very much a cub-parent activity. Parents attend meetings with their cub scout and are encouraged to participate in other ways, too. There are plenty of opportunities to get involved in such as; planning meetings, organizing trips, and lending your talent in any way you can think of. The whole family is invited (and strongly encouraged) to attend the pack meetings and ceremonial meetings.
