Thanks to all who attended and participated in our Regatta.

We managed to pull off a regatta after being ravaged by Fay.
9 races were conducted despite rain and heavy winds.
Over half of the boats were put out of commission after the first couple of races.

Leg Two Vero

Wow!  What a fun and enlightening event. Last week I thought we had rough weather and considered us fortunate to get through the event.
Tropical Storm Fay had just passed through and we were still experiencing storm bands. I made the statement " I can't ever see the need for using a 12 inch sail. You will never see one on my boat."  Today I had to retract that statement after not being able to finish a single race.
After the 3rd race when the boat just wouldn't respond any more I had to withdraw. What I saw was people finishing races using storm rigs.
What I saw was people with tough boats and small rigs. What I saw from George Emmert was a guy finishing out of sheer determination and perseverance. He tied the sails down and finished his races with only rudder control. Great job of survival exibited by the finishers of this race.
What a great job of boat set up and sail selection gentlemen.
A great day of racing with great hosts for the regatta, and a wonderful day of camaraderie in footydom.
There is something really refreshing, and exciting about Footy skippers and regattas.
I had a great day and some really good learning curves.
Thanks to all who hosted the Regatta and all who participated.

LEG 3

Orlando Sunday Sloopers

Another great Footy Regatta hosted by the Sunday Sloopers in Orlando.
Thanks to all who participated and thanks to the Sloopers for putting on a great Regatta.
An outstanding example of how it should be done. Great organization, good official appointment.
Outstanding photographs of the whole event. These guys know how to host a Regatta.
Thanks Darrell for putting it together and thanks to all who helped put this gem of a regatta together.

Really good conditions for the race day, and a good turnout.
Brent Carter started out smoking and continued that fad for the whole race followed and contested the whole
way by Charles Samaha. Next closest thing was another one of Brent's boats.
Brent has a look of suprise in the second photo, can't understand any suprises for him.
Great guy thats always willing to share information and help with other boats. My hats off to you Sir!
Congratulations to Charles Samaha who seems to have made big improvements to his boat.
Way to go Ken Bradford with a third place win, I know you had a fast boat but without skill you never could
have secured a third place win. Bernie Ceilley didn't go un-noticed from Vero in a strong attempt to stay at the head
of the pack. Bernie suffered boat problems from the beginning, including a radio receiver swap.
All in all ya gotta say it was another great event in Footydom.
See ya next week in Daytona. Hope to loose some bugs by then.

South Daytona Model Yacht Club

Winners of the last Regatta are as follows:

 1st place Adrian Sullivan

2nd place Brent Carter

3rd place John Egisi

4th place Darrell Krasoski

The last but definately not the least race of the Florida Footy Festival took place at Daytona on Sept 20th at 1:00pm.

A total of 17 skippers had registered for the event while only 15 sailed. Skippers were met by brisk winds and an upcoming storm. Most of the entries were operating at the edge of their capacity to finish some of the races. The last few races were accompanied by waves that made most of the boats just bounce up and down while heeling over and not moving. The tenth race ended the event with rain immediately following. Awards were given in the rain. I will have a full report of the event posted here soon along with pictures of the event.

Scores for the overall event were given me by Darrell of Sunday Sloopers. I asked Darrell a couple of weeks ago to aid in compiling final scores for the event. Darrell took scores from Titusville, Vero, Orlando, and Daytona events and came up with final scores. Awards were presented after the event presentation for the Daytona Regatta.
