Sand Point Sail

Hooked

For those who haven't figured it out yet I am hooked..... hook, line and sinker on the new International Class boat called Footy

Our first Footy Regatta

Titusville's First Footy Regatta

What a wonderful day, filled with boats and friends. It doesn't get any better than this. We can't call this Regatta anything but a big success...............Fair weather, good friends and an introduction to Footy Racing.

We had entries from Daytona, Orlando, Vero and Titusville.

There was a great turnout of old friends and new faces with lots of interesting boats. The weather started out with a light wind for the first five races with a few drift matches. We stopped for Hot dogs after five heats. The wind really picked up after lunch. The last four races found footies diving and just trying to survive enough to make it round the marks big difference from the first five heats. We had lots of variety. Thanks again to Paul and Kathy for supplying the lunch and preparing it. You are very appreciated by SPMSC.

I got to see old friends, George Emmert, Bernie Ceilley, Glenn Prunyl and Brent Carter. I got to meet Paul Taylor from Daytona who gave some lessons in sailing. Brent Carter really showed of his new boat. Almost pitched a shutout. Lots of Aces. George was trying out his new boat that he hadn't sailied prior to this event. Bernie came up just to visit and was handed a loaded loaner by Jimmy Carter.

Jimmy Carter officiated the event, made jokes and had fun.
I had just completed my boat an hour and a half prior to the event.
Bob Boisvert suffered mechanical problems through most of the race.
Sooooooo.................. we all got our feet wet (pun intended) at this event.

End result we all had a fun day and got enlightenment about these boats they call Footies.
