Great day at Vero at the Indian River Model Sailing Club.
The Vero Club did a great job as usual hosting the first All Florida Footy Regatta.
There was a good turnout with several clubs being represented.
The morning was cool by our standards with temps in the 40's.
As the day progressed and the mercury rose to indicate 70 degrees, skippers started shedding clothes. Wind was calm (about 5mph) and stayed that way till about 3pm when it just died.
Winds proved fickle shifting directions several times.
Frank Thorley managed his hand crafted Goldfoot very well with a 200+ sq in sail.
He ended the race with a lot of bullets landing him a first place finish.
Butch Bragg finished second with his version of the footy, the Shark3.
George Reed also sailing a Shark3 finished 3rd followed by Dave Griesse at the helm of another
Shark3. Bernie Cielley from Vero sailing a Shark2 finished fifth and John Egizi sailing a Pool Shark from California finished sixth.
Great day with a fantastic hosting job by the Vero group.
Good visit and great competition from friends of the Footy world in Florida.
The Footy design is still progressing and moving ahead in Florida.
I will add the scores to the page once I receive them from Bernie.
Frank Thorley recorded the entire race and will post it on the Tanglewood Club website soon
