Video:

Jack Daniels is a legend in the world of distance running coaching. Many of our training principles are based on the philosophy of Jack Daniels. In this video he talks about nerves on race day and the need to be consistent. Great advice.

Jack Daniels "Nerves and Moments"

Bob Kennedy talks about mental strategies for racing. Kennedy is possibly the greatest distance runner in USA history. During the '90's Kennedy sought out the best runners in the world to train with by living in Kenya for a stretch. He is the only American to run under 13:00 for 5k. Click "Controlled Aggression"

Deena Kastor is one of Coach O'Malley's heroes. She won the 2004 Olympic Bronze Medal in Athens--check out what she says about lifestyle choices (not sacrifices!). Decide to be great!:

Tom Sideras, Zach Dahleen, Mike Marbach, and Kevin Adamowski run 7:49.1 to PR by 12 seconds in the IHSA State Meet to break the 30-year-old school record. In the words of CSHS Alum JR Novak, Sideras and Adamowski "ended their careers the way they are supposed to: on the infield of the state meet with their teammates and all-state medals around their necks."

Coach: "Okay, what did you guys do to make Elmo give us a thumbs down?"

Totorelli: "I've told too many secrets not to know what ear wax tastes like."

Tortorelli: "I got a few more things to do in life before I turn 18."

Tortorelli: "I smell everything before I buy it."

Tortorelli: "Get your mind out of my gutter."

Who is this Tortorelli character?

Quote of the year--2009:
Meyer: "Did you do that career inventory thing?"

Torts: "Yeah, my first choice was a garbage man. My second choice was a bee keeper. The funny thing is, I'm allergic to bees. I don't know what I'm going to do."
