About Salsa
Salsa is a magical dance where the body and soul fly. Salsa dancing became one of the most expressive, passionate, and flirtatious dances in all of its forms and movements dating back to the 1930s. It should be danced with the heart as well as the feet, with the spirit and the body at all times.
Today Salsa is danced all around the World by all age groups. It is a social dance that stays with you for a lifetime.
Our Salsa Course
In our 10 sessions intensive beginner salsa course (twice a week) we will teach you the fundamentals of salsa: timing, rhythm, footwork, posture, turns and dancing with a partner. We break each move down to its basics and show you everything you need to know to dance with excellent technique and confidence. On our improver classes we teach you choreographies and complement elements of our beginner course.
Our classes are twice a week in order to keep you in the rhythm. We are committed to teach you to dance salsa with confidence and with great technique.
It is important that you commit yourself for our 10 sessions, because the classes are built on each other.
We always start our classes with warming up by some basic footworks and stretching.
No matter if this is your first time dancing salsa or you have been dancing for a while, we will teach you excellent basic salsa techniques and choreographies which is suitable for all kind of salsa styles (New York, LA, Puert Rico, Cuban etc.) .
Learning salsa requires patience, passion and commitment. It is highly recommended to go out and dance salsa beside our classes to practice what you have learnt (for salsa parties visit www.salsa.ie). The more you practice the better you get! You will learn more and more on the way and eventually you will develop an excellent repertoire with your own style which makes it unique.
Many of those moves we teach will be repeated at regular intervals, so you will have ample opportunity to catch up if you miss some of them.
As we are a couple we can teach you the women's and men's steps separately and there is also specific gender salsa techniques and styles you need to acquire depending on your gender :
Special for ladies: sexy styling techniques Special for gentlemen: confidence and leadership
About Us
Karin and Balázs have been dancing salsa for more than seven years. It is thanks to the Salsa that they found each other and eventually got married in 2007. As they lived in different countries, they learnt salsa in Hungary (New York style) , Spain (Cuban style) and France (LA style) and now they look forward to spread their passion in Dublin.
Balázs (27) started his sport career as a professional artistic gymnast at the age of 7. He was doing gymnastics for 13 years, won the Hungarian national championship for 5 years (1996-2001), and placed 13th on the World Gymnastics Championship (1998). Since he finished his gymnastics career in 2001 he quickly engaged with dancing to express himself on stage in a different way. He danced Latin and ball dances for four years and ended up in the world of salsa. His first great salsa experience was in Havanna, Cuba where he was dancing with local people in 2002. Since then he is passionate about Salsa.
Karin (25) entered the world of dancing at the age of 7. She danced jazz ballet for 3 years, show dance for 2 years and hip-hop for a year. She has been dancing salsa since 2003 and in 2005 she became part of a salsa lady style team where she had her first teaching experience.
FAQ
- Do I need a partner?
- No, you don't need a partner, as dance partners rotate continuously throughout our classes. It means everybody dances with everybody, so you learn how to lead and to be led by others.
- What should I wear to a class?
- Convenient, comfortable cloths. Shoes should not have too
much grip as you'll need to turn easily - that goes for men and ladies.
