Confirmation

Two Year Process
  • Year I, every Tuesday’s, 6-8:00p.m.
  • Year II, every Wednesday’s, 6-8:00pm
  • Attend all Interviews
  • See calendar for other important dates
  • Mandatory Weekend Retreat and All Days of Reflection
 
Prayers
  • Every Candidate will be tested on All PRAYERS.
 
Registration
  • Confirmation Registration Form
  • Copy of the Baptism Certificate
  • Copy of First Communion Certificate.
  • $225.00 Year I
  • $225.00 Year II
    • This is a supply fee covers, 2 - Days of Reflection Lunch and Supplies, Retreat Year I (LIFE TEEN), Retreat Year II, Youth Day. Supplies, food, T-shirt, & printing materials for an in depth memorable and spiritual preparation for the Sacrament of Confirmation.
       
    • Year I – Full payment due at time of registration.
    • Year II – Full payment due by October 1st of the Second Year

      (Payment plans are available. Please contact the Youth Ministry Office)Absolutely NO REFUNDS!!!
   
Reports
  •  All Candidates will write a 5 page Report on a Saint of their choice. This will be assigned during the summer break from Year I – Year II, and will be due on the first day of Year II
     
    In Confirmation all Candidates are asked to choose a Saint’s Name. It could be there own Baptism Name or that of a Saint who has inspired the Candidate.

    Candidates should research the Saints life and his/her way of living including their spirituality. While taking a deeper look into their own spiritual life as well. They will need to write a report on the Saint they have chosen. The report should cover:
    • Saint Biography
    • Impact on his/her community. (Why is he/she a Saint?)
    • Why was this Saint chosen?
    • How will you try to live as this Saint did?
    • The report should be 2-3 pages long. If you need some assistance please stop by the Youth Ministry Office whenever possible. Or call us at (818) 361-1814, This is due on the first day of Year II:        
 
Christian Community Service Hours
  • Each Candidate is required to complete 25 Hours Per Year. 
    • 15 Hours in Parish
    • 10 Hours in Community
 
Attendance
  • Because of the way the program is designed,
 
Evaluations
  • All candidates will be evaluated twice a year.
  • First time at the end of the first year.
  • Second time before the final Retreat.
 
Faith Companion (Sponsors)
  • Every Candidate will be asked to pick a Faith Companion.
    • Minimal 16 years or older
    • Confirmed
    • A Practicing Catholic
    • If Married must be by the Catholic Church
    • Live in the area
  • What St. Ferdinand’s expects from a Faith Companion.
    • Get together with the Candidate at least once a week.
    • Assist Faith Companion Meetings
    • Assist Sunday Mass at least once a month with Candidate.
 
Homework
  • All Confirmation Candidates are to attend weekly Sunday Mass.
