Math Superstars!

Math Superstars is designed to enhance your child’s journey through mathematics.  All students are welcome to participate in this exciting enrichment program to volunteer extra time to complete logic and math-based assignments.

Weekly Assignments

*** PLEASE PUT YOUR STUDENT'S FULL NAME / TEACHER'S NAME ON EACH ASSIGNMENT ***

Our Mission:

The Math Superstars program offers students the opportunity to challenge themselves in various types of math concepts and logic skills.  All ability levels, grades K – 5, have a chance to extend themselves beyond the student’s regular mathematics curriculum and become more confident in math.

Parent Information:

Participation in this program is voluntary.  During the school year, all parents and students are given the opportunity to choose whether or not to participate by beginning to complete assignments in order and turning them into your teacher by Friday every week.  A file will be created to track your student’s progress during the year.

What you need to do:
C Download a tracking sheet at the bottom of this page!
C Complete at least one Math Superstars assignment each week.  This is great “weekend” work to keep your brain active.
  •  Grades 1 – 5 have a total of 25 assignments.  Students who complete 15 out of 25 assignments will be eligible for all kinds of cool rewards and invited to attend a year-end celebration!
  • Kindergarten students have 10 assignments. Students who complete 7 out of 10 assignments during the school year are eligible for rewards and year-end celebration!

C Turn in completed assignments to your teacher.  To get credit for your assignments, please make sure the assignment has your student name, grade and teacher listed.

C Please complete assignments in order, even if you miss a week.  Strive to do assignments weekly.

Each worksheet has multiple questions.  The number of stars you see beside a problem indicates the level of difficulty (one star being the easiest).  The parent’s role in Math Superstars is to encourage and facilitate your child’s problem solving skills.  These are not tests that are graded!  Feel free to suggest a strategy for solving the problem, offer counters or manipulatives, or listen as your child shares his or her problem solving strategy.  This is a great tool for parents to help guide their children to better logic and problem solving skills.

It is normal for a child NOT to be able to complete every problem on a worksheet.  And that’s o.k!  The most crucial element is for parents to help guide their kids through the problems and include them
in how answers are determined.  Allow the child time to try to figure out the problem on his/her own,
but do not hesitate to step in if frustration occurs!
