Sacred Heart and St. Michaels Knitting and Prayer Shawl Ministry
We meet monthly on the third Wednesday of each month. Praying as we knit for those who will receive the shawls. We gather to share patterns and to discuss what projects to undertake. Currently, we are working on hat and mitten sets for Helping Hands and the Sacred Heart Tree of Life Food Pantry. Our group started when parishioner, Carolyn Wakefield, suggested that there might be some interest in the parish to make "knitted prayers" for those who are sick or in need. Carolyn was so right! There were people spilling our of the conference room for our first meeting! Knitters and crocheters from Sacred Heart and St. Michaels parishes joined to extend care to those in need in the form of knitted items. Our handcrafted prayers have been well received and we are so grateful to the many people who have knitted, donated yarn or gift bags to this personal ministry.
The group meets the second Tuesday of each month at 1:30 PM in the Teacher's Lounge in Sacred Heart School.
The group is based on the guidance of the book " Knitting Into the Mystery" If you'd like to read the book you can borrow one from the Sacred Heart and St. Michael's Knitting and Prayer Shawl Ministry Group or to order one go to our Useful Links page.
