This experience helped me to get a fully funded summer internship (May 2005- Aug 2005) under Dr. Gabor Szekely at Computer Vision Lab, ETH Zurich. At ETH, my focus of research was development of non linear line detection filter to detect dissection membrane in Aorta.
For my B.Tech thesis, I was involved with Dr. S.S Mahapatra for development of a Particle Swarm based algorithm for cell formation problem. After four fun filled years at NIT Rourkela, I joined Texas A&M University for my Master of Science in Computer Science. My MS at Texas A&M was partialy funded by Bharat Petroleum Scholarship that was awarded to 6 students from all over India to pursue higher studies abroad.I was also funded through NEH and NSF for part of my graduate studies.
At Texas A&M University, I assisted Dr. Wei Yan in writing a research proposal on High Dynamic Range Imaging, which was selected for $30,000 start up grant from National Endowment for Humanities. We recently submitted our paper on shadow removal and digital heritage to one of the prestigious journals in the field of cultural heritage.
I also worked with Dr. Tracy Hammond, a world renowned researcher in the field of sketch recognition, at Sketch Recognition Lab. My focus of research with her was the development of paper-pen based online sketch recognition system that can be integrated with state of art tablet based recognition system -LADDER.During Fall 2007, while taking a course on computer vision, I developed a neural network based system that can recognize text in natural scenes which usually suffer from prespective distortion. Details of my graduate research and publications can be found in my resume availabe here. I also spent a semester learning Haptics. As a part of my term project, I developed a vision based gesture recognition system that does not require user to use any markers for hand tracing. I will be submitting my paper on this work soon.I have maintained a blog on haptics that can be found here.
Presently, I am working with Advance Micro Devices as a Product Development Engineer-2. At AMD, I am responsible for post silicon validation and have been involved at some point of time with Athlon II , Phenome II X4 , Opeteron 6 core, Opeteron 12 core Magny Cores, AMD Thuban,Turion II and Neo II processors. At the moment I am leading a group of 3 engineers for AMD Fusion (Llano). It is a wonderful and game changing silicon and I feel proud to be associated with it.
