1/3/08  It is a new year with many new adventures. I am putting on my first race with over 20 team signed up.  The race will take place in Southern California introducing the sport of Adventure racing to new people.  I am also part of a new team for the 2008 season (Team Swift), with big plans to race hard and finnish well in the Adventure Xteme series along with the USARA Series 2008 is shaping up to be another great year.

7/14/07 "Team Explorer          Sports Wins Again"

The Scout Adventure Challenge has come and gone,  but not without leaving the teams with a handful of new twists.  This years race was a rogain style event where teams had 10hrs to get as many Check points as possible.  Also, with 3 new rope sections teams were kept on their toes and loving every minute of it.  This race was very challenging for Navigators and teams, with a 3:30am start and temps. creeping  into the 90's this year's course was no easy feat. Team Explorer Sports however prevailed once again, winning by 5 points over an international field of athletes and  seasoned teams such as Team Fead the Machine, and Amgen.

4/2/07 I am back from my first expedition adventure race in Baja, Mexico on the team "Exodus". The race was called the Baja Travesia (http://www.bajatravesia.com/) It lasted between 3 to 5 days from Ensenada to San Felipe with a total distance of 350km. You can read a general race report on sleepmonsters.com. Here is a little of my own encounters that the total race report might of left out. The race started on Tuesday at 8am. We started with a kayak out into the Pacific Ocean. We fought 6 foot swells out to the first CP and to the second CP. On our way to the third CP we encountered 24 foot swells with a cross wind. This made our progress difficult. The waves and wind were too much for one of our team mates in a single kayak. As my teammate flipped his kayak, myself and my female teammate in our double kayak tried to helped him get back in the boat but by this time we were pushed towards the bluffs by the wind and swells. We tried kayaking out and excaping the crushing waves but the weather was too much for the single and flipped again in our efforts to get back and help a wave turned our kayak. The waves continued to pound down on us and we had to make our way into the beach. From there we found our way to the top of the bluffs and to an old man's shack where he gave us blankets. It is now 5pm thes first day and we had made it 40km out of the 50 km paddle. From here we had to wait to be picked up by our support crew. From here we went to the trek section where we started the race in 10th place where we had left off. From here we worked our way across the desert for 17km over mountains through dunes and bushes and then from here we did a 26 km bike almost all up hill with a big hike a bike section where we passed many teams to end up in 3rd place We did this section in about 3.5 hrs while it took almost every team over 5 hrs due to navagation mistakes. By now 2 days have passed and we are heading out on a long canyoneering section. First we hiked to the top of the mountain right around 2400 meters. From here we went down a canyon with many rapells and difficult downclimbs. We ended up at the bottom at 500meters about 20hrs later. From here we did a flawless auto rally and a final desert trek to the final kayak into San Felipe where we finished around 9pm 4 days after we started. So I would say that my first expedition race was a success and full of adventure and challenge.

12/25/06 I am finally home after getting stuck in two feet of snow at school in Boulder , CO. I am still continuing to train and prepare for next season.

11/4/06  I raced in my first Rogaine finishing 18th only 13 spots behind Mike Kloser of team Nike Power Blast. The course was scattered upon the Foothills near Boulder, CO. In 3 hrs I scaled more then 2600 feet of elevation gain and many miles trampling through bushes and trees. The following day I competed in a Duathlon, put on by the CU Tri Team. I placed 3rd.

10/1/06 I raced in the Nissan Xterra USA National Championship and placed first in my age group after a frigid mile swim in Lake Tahoe, a Mt. bike ride that was 22 miles over some of the most beautiful trails in North America then finally a 6 mile trail run over countless streams and 4 log crossings
