The Rochester Winter Mountaineering Society is an informal group of climbers who find winter the ideal time to explore and climb the mountains of the northeastern United States. Trips are generally scheduled every weekend during Winter. Climbing trips farther afield are also occasionally held. The group has been in continuous operation since 1966.
Joining The Society Experienced backpackers who are properly equipped and in excellent physical condition are invited to join us on an introductory trip. Introductory trips are typically held on the first two weekends in January. If you are interested, please review the background information and prepare accordingly.
There are no membership dues for those receiving distributions via e-mail. Trip expenses are shared among the participants.
