The Farmers' Market opened June 20, 1975 as a marketing vehicle for the local agricultural producers. During the growing season a wide selection of produce items are sold by the farmers from across the county. Baked goods and handcrafted items are also available for purchase. The Farmers' Market is open on Fridays during the early portion of the season, then by mid-June it opens for business on Tuesday and Fridays. the average season is late May through October. Hours of operation are 7:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. The Rutherford County Farmers' Market is also a participating member of the North Carolina Farmers' Nutrition Program working to improve nutrition of low-income women, infants and children (WIC). |
