ENGINEERED BIOMATERIALS LAB

DEPARTMENT OF BIOMEDICAL ENGINEERING

MICHIGAN TECHNOLOGICAL UNIVERSITY

MISSION STATEMENT:

Cells in higher organisms gain their purpose through context, the physical and chemical environment that surrounds a cell at any given time and helps to determine the interpretation of its genetic material. Success at the cellular, tissue, and organ level is ultimately measured by the control and maintenance of physiologic structure and function.

We are interested in the accumulating evidence linking vascular and bone disease. Targeted cellular and animal models can be used to better understand the physical and chemical mechanisms guiding biomineralization in vascular and bone-related cell types and tissues, and in turn how perturbations to these systems influence cellular and tissue behavior. Insight gained from these contextual studies complement and provide the rationale for experiments addressing questions of therapeutic tissue regeneration.

OPEN POSITIONS: Graduate Student Fellowship (1)
