January 2012: My current work is on application of Openflow in cloud networking. We have implemented an openflow based solution for Elastic IP on the Clemson Opennebula cloud.

On April 10th I gave a laid back presentation on Cloud for EPSCor students, it was recorded via adobe connect check it out

Pretty happy about these two small papers:

1.     S. Esswein, S. Goasguen, C. Post, D. White, J. Hallstrom and G. Eidson “Towards Ontology-based Data Quality Inference in Large-scale Sensor Networks” 1st Workshop on Large-scale Sensor Networks, 12th IEEE/ACM International Symposium on Cluster, Cloud and Grid computing, May 13th-16th, Ottawa, Canada. [pdf ]

2.     G. Stabler, A. Rosen, K.C. Wang and S. Goasguen “OneCloud: Controlling the Network in an Openflow Cloud” 13th GENI Engineering Conference, March 13th -15th 2012, Los Angeles, CA. [pdf]

Bio: I am an associate professor in the school of computing at Clemson University. I joined Clemson in October 2006. My research interest is in applied distributed systems. Most of my work is experimental and oriented towards building new systems and testing their performances. I teach a graduate course on cyberinfrastructure, an undergraduate course on distributed systems and cluster computing and one one network security. I was a CERN scientific associate from 2009/2011 helping design and build lxcloud. Prior to joining Clemson I was at Purdue University. I was the TeraGrid site lead and co-investigator on the Purdue CMS Tier-2 site, I was also the lead of the nanoHUB middleware after having acted as the technical director at the start of the Network for Computational Nanotechnology (NCN).

Over the years I have been PI or Co-PI on over $15M of research funds, awarded by the National Science Foundation, Department of Energy, DELL, IBM and BMW. I have published over 60 journal and conference publications. I received two IBM Faculty awards in 2007 and 2008.
