Research Techniques Facility Workshop is an outreach program for highly motivated students from new Manhattan/Hunter Science High School. The main objectives of the workshop are 3) to give students an early college experience Objective# 1: Basic Laboratory Skills 1) Keeping a lab notebook Objective# 2: Modern Biomedical Research Techniques Suggested PowerPoint topics are Gene knock down, Gene knock in/ out, Immunofluorescence Labeling, Gel electrophoresis, DNA fingerprinting, Therapeutic cloning, PCR, RT-PCR, Bioinformatics, Immunoprecipitation assay, Microarray, Microscopy, Chromatography, Cell and tissue culture. For Web Publishing, students will do a research on their favorite animal model system (lab animal), and favorite protein or gene and discuss the content in a scientific manner.
