Caros Companheiros,
Reencaminho-vos
um e-mail da Companheira Claire Tennant, Presidente do Europe Rotaract
Information Center.
comunidades, numa data próxima, realizem actividades neste sentido,

This is the 3rd Year
of running the AIDS Social Awareness Project, this year we want to make
it bigger and better with more countries and clubs participating!!
The primary purpose of the social awareness project is to raise people's awareness. This can be within…
- Your club
- Your district
- Your working environment
- Your local community
- Your family and friends
What we would like you to do is
hold an Awareness Party! This can be any thing from a small party at
home with members of your club or with your friends and family, a
district party with the district working together with club members and
friends, a community based party in a local hall, a black tie ball or a
pub crawl!
So there are lots of options the size and style is entirely up to you and your clubs but please do something!!
What is AIDS?
AIDS (Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome):
Acquired means you can get infected with it
Immune Deficiency means a weakness in the body's immune system that fights diseases
Syndrome means a group of health problems that make up a single disease
AIDS is caused by a virus called
HIV (the Human Immunodeficiency Virus). If you become infected with
HIV, your body will try to fight the infection. It will make
"antibodies", special molecules to fight HIV.
A blood test for HIV looks for
these antibodies. People who have the HIV antibodies in their blood are
called "HIV-Positive". Being HIV-Positive or having HIV disease is not
the same as having AIDS. You might get infected with HIV
and later you might develop AIDS. You can get infected with HIV from
anyone who's infected, even if they don't look sick and even if they
haven't tested HIV-positive yet.
According to the UNAIDS Report 2007; there are 33.2 million people living with HIV.
To protect yourself and the others from AIDS, you should:
- Avoid risky behaviours and practice safer sexual behaviours.
- Be aware of the risks of sharing needles and other drug equipment.
- Avoid any use of drugs (this includes alcohol) that may affect you judgement. Under
their influence, you may practice unsafe behaviours, putting yourself at risk of HIV
infection.
Resources
Rotaract Great Britain and Ireland
will be working in conjunction with the international charity UNICEF
and will be holding pub crawls up and down the country who have been
kind enough to set up a UNICEF/Rotaract website for us.
On here you can find downloads of UNICEF's AIDS based projects. http://www.unicef.org.uk/rotaract and about what RGBI are up to!
Attached is also a guide for
organising a pub crawl please note this was produced for RGBI only and
