RSVP Charlotte partners with agencies in the community to offer a wide array of volunteer opportunities. RSVP Charlotte pre-screens agencies to ensure good volunteer management.
Highlighted Opportunities:
Carolinas Medical Center-Main -The Maternity Waiting Room Volunteer assists families who have relatives in the Maternity Waiting Room by talking, visiting and relaying information to them as requested by hospital staff. He/she is responsible for keeping track of the family and ensuring they are available when a physician requests a consultation.
Communities In Schools - Communities In Schools and RSVP Charlotte have partnered to recuit volunteers at various elementary schools as mentors and tutors. Currently volunteers are being recruited for Montclaire Elementary School.
Community Link
-Community Link seeks volunteers to serve as Financial Fitness Coaches to mentor customers in basic financial decision making and help them to build a better future. They also need volunteers in Guest Services to help manage the front desk.
Crisis Assistance Ministry - Housing and Financial Services Volunteer and Free Store Volunteer
-Crisis Assistance Ministry seeks volunteers to interview clients through the Housing and Financial Services Program. They also need someone to help in the Free Store to assist customers and sort donations.
Guardian Ad Litem
-Be an advocate for an abused or neglect child by becoming a Guardian Ad Litem Volunteers. GAL Volunteers are the childrens' voice in court. Trainings are held most months at the downtown GAL office.
Habitat for Humanity Re-Store
-Cabinetry Specialist: We are looking for volunteers with experience or interest in sales, cabinets, or kitchen design to help sell cabinets at our Habitat ReStore. Ample training will be provided. Volunteers must have the ability to lift 20-30 pounds. Location: 3326 Wilkinson Blvd, Charlotte NC 28208 Hours: one 4 hour shift Tuesday-Saturday
-Appliance Specialist: If you have basic experience in appliances, we need your help selling appliances at our Habitat ReStore! Volunteers must have the ability to life 30-40 pounds. Location: 3326 Wilkinson Blvd, Charlotte NC 28208 Hours: one 4 hour shift Tuesday-Saturday
-Cashier Extraordinaire: We need volunteer cashiers who are comfortable handling money and love customer service. Experience running a register is not required, just a desire to learn! Ability to stand for 2 hours is a must. Location: 3326 Wilkinson Blvd, Charlotte NC 28208 Hours: one 4 hour shift Tuesday-Saturday; most shifts are available
-Donations Hotline Assistant: The ReStore is looking for volunteers with experience or an interest in administrative duties. These volunteers would help field general phone calls, confirm donor pick-ups, conduct surveys, and enter information into Excel. Comfort in talking on the phone and using a computer is necessary. Location: 1133 N. Wendover Rd, Charlotte NC 28211 Hours: one 3-4 hour shift Monday-Saturday Hospitality House of Charlotte - Seeks volunteers at their front desk and also as bakers. Hospitality house is located on Scott Avenue near the hospitals. It houses family members of patients in the nearby hospitals.
Nathaniel Alexander Elementary School
- Volunteers are needed to be teacher's assistants, student mentors, and reading buddies. Nathaniel Alexander Elementary School is a large elementary school located in the Governor's Village. With over 1,000 students enrolled, they are growing rapidly and need more volunteers in the classrooms.
S.W.A.T. Team

SHIIP (Seniors Health Insurance Information Program)
-SHIIP is a program that helps people gets answers on Medicare/Medicaid/Part D and other insurance questions. Volunteers are trained as SHIIP counselor and see clients one-on-one is a SHIIP office. More SHIIP Counselors are needed in Mecklenburg County.
Tyvola Senior Center
-The Tyvola Senior Center is currently in need of volunteers to serve as Greeters, Receptionists, and Health Suite Monitors. These are wonderful opportunities for someone who is friendly, outgoing, and enjoys meeting new people.
