Analysis of Youth Development Initiatives

The purpose of this class is to expose students to theoretical and empirical analysis of initiatives designed to enhance the development of youth. This course provides an in-depth exploration of multi-level approaches to youth development and the issues and challenges facing these approaches.  Special attention to social policy needs, implementation, evaluation and funding will be addressed through coursework.

Upon completion of this course students will be able to:

• Understand and articulate the development and impact of policies oriented to enhancing youth development;
• Be able to critically analyze and articulate salient issues facing youth development initiatives and programs;
• Be able to develop a funding strategy, proposal, budget and evaluation plan for an existing youth development program.
