Cued by Clyde Cullings  Clyde has been an active square dance caller since 1970 and has been cueing rounds since 1972. He and his wife Ruth teach beginning (phase 1,2) and intermediate (phase 2,3 & 4) rounds on Tuesday nights at Frankenmuth's Fischer Hall. They also offer beginning square dance on the same night. These are a couples activities (two women willing to dance together is fine). The weekly workshop starts Tuesday, September 20th. Beginning Square dancing will be from 6:00-7:00pm, beginning rounds rounds from 7:00 - 8:00pm, and more advanced rounds from 8:00-9:30pm. Times may be adjusted according to demand.\
Cost is $10/ couple / night or $60 for the fall session.
"Round Dancing" or "Ballroom Dancing to Cues" is a form of social ballroom dancing in which the dance movement is choreographed to the recorded music. The Cuer provides the prompts and the dancing couples are able to move to the music in unison. The partner holds, dance steps and rhythms are basically the same in round, social and ballroom dancing. Dances are choreographed to specific music so that there is a smooth flow throughout the dance. The thinking and worrying of what to do next is eliminated and the dance always fits the music. There are a nice variety of steps which provedes for interesting dancing. Also, the steps learned here enable one to feel much more comfortable on the social dance floor."
As the cuer provides the prompts, the dancers are able to uniformly complete relatively complex and interesting movements.
